About Wellness Coaching

Paris Wellness includes MariaTeresa Paris, whose background and credentials include:

  • Certified Wellness Coach (CWC®) through Wellcoaches Corporation and endorsed by The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). Wellcoaches® has defined the cutting edge and the gold standard for high impact, evidence-based, and innovative education, training, and certification. Wellcoaches® created the first coaching textbook in healthcare, the Coaching Psychology Manual, endorsed by the ACSM, which is used widely in the health and wellness coach training industry. The coaching protocols published in Wellcoaches® textbook are now evidence-based.
  • Registered Yoga Trainer (RYT®) with the Yoga Alliance. Studied and certified as a “Yoga Teacher” under Francois Raoult at Open Sky Yoga, Rochester, NY.
  • Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from State University of New York College at Brockport. Studies included Applied Behavioral Modification, Child Welfare, Human Services Social Psychology, Cognitive Processes, and Developmental Psychology.

As a wellness coach, I will help guide you to understanding your “best self”, your capabilities, and your strengths. Initially we will do an assessment of your current wellness status. Together we will review important aspects of your life including your physical activity, nutritional practices, intellectual activities, social needs, and emotional supports. The process in this assessment, and in all future sessions, utilizes proven techniques that help elicit your own discovery of what areas you want to improve, and what you need to do to attain those improvements. As your coach, I will provide support and guidance in helping you clarify the path you must take to meet your goals. Together we will identify a schedule that projects your goals over a specific time period that you define. At every subsequent meeting we will review what you have accomplished since our last meeting as well as your setbacks. I will provide encouragement and guidance in meeting challenges that interfere with your progress. If necessary we will revise your goals and continue with your plan for success. My job is to be compassionate yet firm in helping you help yourself set and accomplish realistic goals, and through the entire process achieve the maximum wellness of your mind, body, and spirit that you desire and deserve for a healthier, happier, and more meaningful life.

The techniques utilized in my practice include: Appreciative Inquiry(AI), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Non-Violent Communication (NVC), and Positive Psychology. These and other terms that you may want to become familiar with are listed in our definition page for your review.
